New Kicks-Puma SL Tech Ferrari

I was fortunate enough to visit Durban in South Africa for the World Cup. While there I spied these Kicks. I am a self confessed sneaker freaker and I just had to have these. They are not designed for running in, as they are actually driving shoes, so much so, they have a warning that they are not fire retardant like the real ones Formula 1 race drivers wear. They are only replicas.

The Holy Grail of Laptops ?

SONY VAIO VPCZ128GGX (Australian model)

I have been selling computers for many years and its always been the case that what users wanted was a fast, powerful, light weight, laptop with great battery life. This has always been a contradiction as you could have great battery life but had to give up performance or you could have great performance at the cost of lightness and battery life. Well SONYs new Z series may have actually done the impossible and produced a laptop that is light weight, powerful and fast, and has awesome battery life.

SONY has delved deep into the exotic parts bin to do this, and that is reflected in the price. The Sony VAIO Z128 isn’t cheap, but that’s to be expected when you have components like Solid State drives, intels high end I7 processor, 8GB of fast DDR3 ram, and carbon composite/precision billet aluminium construction. The LED backlit LCD display is a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. The Sony VAIO Z128 design makes me think of a formula 1 car, as no part of the design has been compromised, and exotic parts are used when there is a benefit. This results in the Sony VAIO Z128 delivering in spades, in all areas of performance.

I have just added this app and so naturally I had to do a post from my iPhone. I am not that keen on typing a big post this way, as the iPhone just isn’t ideal for that. The app is free which is always a good thing and was very easy to set up and start blogging with.

I guess this is a test run so I will add to this once I have played around with it some more…ok, I am now back on my netbook but the first part was posted from my iPhone. The lack of a spell check is one feature that I missed straight away but that just means you will have to put up with some typo’s when I post from my iPhone until I can get on here via my PC and fix them…sorry in advance :)   Feels a little like I am gorilla blogging< note I just coined this term :) (28 April 2010)

Creating a new post is very easy, as this post proves. The app saves post as an initial draft. I struggled a little to post at first but once I found that ticking published(in status option) by touching it, I had my first from my iPhone post. The app obviously isn’t as comprehensive as publishing from a PC, but looks like all you need to get job done. I will no doubt post then log in later to clean up anything I post this way, like I am now.

The app looks great as far as navigating a blog goes and the interface is clean and simple. I think it will prove very handy as I can take pics when I am out and about and add them with a post quite easily. I will hold off rating this app as I have had too little time to evaluate it yet, but so far, it’s all good

SONY XEL-1 OLED TV

I recently purchased this amazing little digital TV, and yes it is a small TV, with a screen that is 11.1 inch , but as it is for use on my bedside table, the size isn’t an issue. It is arguably the coolest TV on the planet and is the worlds first OLED TV.  This Digital TV uses OLED technology for the display. OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode. OLED screens use organic materials that emit light when an electrical current is passed through them. This has several advantages over the more common LCD panels, most of us have as a TV or computer monitor. LCD screens rely on a backlight to generate the picture. This means the screens are lit from behind and can suffer from light leaking through and so they have trouble displaying a true deep black. OLED screens can turn off individual pixels to produce stunning blacks and brilliant contrast that no other display technology can match. It is also extremely energy efficient.

Alpine eX-10

I have just installed the Alpine eX-10 into my car. This unit was originally several hundred dollars but is now discontinued and can be found much cheaper. Amazon have it for $US44.95 Click here. I paid a little more as I saw it online cheap and didn’t do any research. At this price its an absolute bargain and there is nothing that comes close at the price or even at 4 times the price IMO. Display screen image

The Alpine eX-10 is a combination of devices. Its a Bluetooth handsfree kit for your mobile phone. Its an Ipod/Iphone interface for your stereo, and it is also a display for both, that can be mounted so you don’t have to take your eyes too far off the road to use it.

The Alpine eX-10 comes with a control box that can be mounted out of sight, a 2.4 inch display, that can be easily mounted to your dash. It also comes with a microphone for the hands free function, and a remote control, to drive it all. Some may wonder about using a remote control while driving, but as this remote allows you to feel your way around it with a series of bumps on the buttons, it is actually a lot safer than using the phone  or MP3 player whilst driving, as it doesn’t require you to look at the buttons. read full article here

LOGITECH G27 RACING WHEEL for PS3 and PC

Logitech G27 Racing Wheel for PC and PS3

I love racing games and although I am happy to use a standard joy-pad controller for most games, its just not right for driving games. A proper wheel with pedals is the only way to go. When you drive a real car, you don’t have a button that’s on or off for an accelerator or brake, you have a pedal that you can be held at 70% through a corner, and then planted at the apex. You can modulate the brake when your on dirt to prevent lock up. A switch just doesn’t give you that control. read full article here

Samsung 32″ Series 6 LED LCD TV

Amazon.com Buy Samsung 32-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV

Well my old TEAC CRT TV was giving up the ghost. It took about 20 attempts to get it turned on and then you couldn’t change channels for at least 2 minutes or it would shut down again. Clearly it was time for a new TV. I decided that due to space I have and the distance I sit I couldn’t go bigger than a 32″. Unfortunately most brands only have their better technology in 40″ and above. This is a real pity as I am very fussy about picture quality, having sold TVs for over 15 years, I was quite happy to pay for a decent picture. read full article here

Moon Landings not Faked!!!

As someone who was around when man first landed on the Moon, I have always been annoyed by claims it was faked. At the time we went out side at night and watched the space craft fly across the night sky, just as NASA told us it would. As we had far less light pollution then it was easy to see the moving satellite in the night sky and I always wondered how NASA could have put a satellite into orbit, then made it disappear and then reappear(just like it had gone to the Moon and back). Turns out they didn’t, they just sent men to the Moon instead. Faking may have been cheaper but much harder to co-ordinate IMO. read full article here

Ableton Live 8 and Suite 8

Create, Produce, and Perform by Keith Robinson

Ableton Live 8 and Suite 8: Create, Produce, Perform

I recently ordered this book from Amazon, as although I am getting better using Ableton Suite 8, it is a bit overwhelming as a novice user. I figured getting some outside help might make me more productive sooner. Although Ableton Live 8 is very user friendly Digital Audio Workstation(DAW), like all powerful programs their is a steep learning curve. read full article here
