1986 PORSCHE 944 TURBO

I have either done the best thing I have ever done, or the dumbest, and only time will tell. I have purchased a new(old) Porsche. I had been planning to buy another type of vehicle for sometime, but one day some one parked a red 944 outside my house. I had always loved the look of these classic vehicles and decided to see what they were selling for these days. Well one thing led to another and I now own a very shiny red Porsche 944 turbo.

Monster Jamz In Ear Headphones

I was fortunate enough to win these in a competition and although initially I was a little disappointed,  as competition was for some Dr Dre headphones, and thats what I thought I had won. These Monster Jamz Headphones are what I had actually won. Once I got over my sadness of not owning the Dre’s (I have heard only good things about), I had a look at what I had in my hot little hands.

Alpine eX-10

I have just installed the Alpine eX-10 into my car. This unit was originally several hundred dollars but is now discontinued and can be found much cheaper. Amazon have it for $US44.95 Click here. I paid a little more as I saw it online cheap and didn’t do any research. At this price its an absolute bargain and there is nothing that comes close at the price or even at 4 times the price IMO. The Alpine eX-10 is a combination of devices. Its a Bluetooth handsfree kit for your mobile phone. Its an Ipod/Iphone interface for your stereo, and it is also a display for both, that can be mounted so you don’t have to take your eyes too far off the road to use it.

The Alpine eX-10 comes with a control box that can be mounted out of sight, a 2.4 inch display, that can be easily mounted to your dash. It also comes with a microphone for the hands free function, and a remote control, to drive it all. Some may wonder about using a remote control while driving, but as this remote allows you to feel your way around it with a series of bumps on the buttons, it is actually a lot safer than using the phone  or MP3 player whilst driving, as it doesn’t require you to look at the buttons. read full article here

PlayStation 3 120 GB

Well after much contemplation I finally got myself a PlayStation 3. I had been tossing up between it and an Xbox 360, and finally decided the PlayStation 3 was better suited to my needs. The built in Blu-ray player was a bonus, and for my needs really just for the advantages it brings gaming(larger capacity equaling bigger more detailed games), not as a movie player. I’m not sold on the push to HD(high definition) as I have an awesome Standard definition widescreen TV(a german Loewe) that I plan to have for many more years, and I don’t see a major difference between excellent SD and average HD. I can’t afford good HD and even then, its a subtle improvement at best. read full article here

Technics SL-1200 mk2

I just got hold of my long desired Technics SL-1200 turntable . I have wanted one of these bad boys for many years. Now most people would want 2, but my desire has been for just 1. Why? well I have a DJ set up consisting of a Pioneer CDJ-200 and Denon DN-S3000 and Pioneer DJM-400 Mixer, that takes care of my DJ needs. I got theTechnics SL-1200 turntable to scratch with, for music production. Not being flush with cash I contacted my good friends down at DMC Records in Prahran, Lance and Stuart, who have looked after me with nearly all my music production gear. Now they advised me rather than buy a cheaper but new turntable, to get the industry standard Technics SL-1200 turntable used(2nd hand). I could have bought a new Pioneer or Numark deck through work, at cost, but I figured it was good advice, as the Technics SL-1200 turntable will hold its value and are a real workhorse, so should give me many many years of trouble free service. read full article here

SONY MZ-RH1 Minidisc

I bought this unit about 18 months ago, and  no doubt some will be thinking *why would anyone buy a minidisc these days?*, so I’ll explain. I also own a 20gb hdd sony NW-HD5 which I have owned for many years. I use this model(NW-HD5) because I found the ATRAC3plus 352kb lossless compression was the best at the time. I use the MW-HD5  unit as my main source of music in my car. Its like having my own radio station that just plays the music I love. read full article here

M Audio Firewire 410 sound card

This is the sound card I use. Its probably better then I need, as I don’t utilize half the features it has. I bought it because it has great sound quality, is reputedly very high quality, and reliable. Its also flexible enough to handle the various signal types I might throw at it, and small enough to be portable if I need to collaborate with anyone, or maybe use it for performance if the need ever came up. read full article here

I have set myself up with a really cool music production setup.

I have PC based system, it consists of an Asus laptop(N50VC), but thats plugged into an Asus 20″  monitor and Logitech Dinovo edge keyboard, and MX revolution mouse. It feels like a desktop and has more than enough grunt for my needs. read full article here
