I was fortunate enough to win these in a competition and although initially I was a little disappointed, as competition was for some Dr Dre headphones, and thats what I thought I had won. These Monster Jamz Headphones are what I had actually won. Once I got over my sadness of not owning the Dre’s (I have heard only good things about), I had a look at what I had in my hot little hands.
I opened the box and was surprised to find just how solid the Monster Jamz Headphones actually are.
Monster Jamz In Ear Headphones
The Buds are a very solid all metal affair and I imagine they will take a real beating, which some people may find a really good thing. I keep mine in the very high quality pouch that monster provides.
When I plugged the Monster Jamz Headphones into my Sony X Series Walkman and had a listen, I wasn’t exactly blown away. They really lacked bottom end and didn’t seem to fit very well. While listening I began to read the info that came with the Monster Jamz Headphones . In the info pages it suggested it was worth trying different sizes of the ear tip. The Monster Jamz Headphones actually come with 6 different sized ear tips. This seemed like overkill as most earbuds come with just 3 sizes.
I then spent some time trying the different sizes and eventually settled on a size that gave the best fit. I fired up my Sony X Series Walkman again and was staggered at the difference the right size made. They now had awesome bottom end and I was pleasantly surprised by just how good they did sound overall.
I have spent a lot of money on Audio gear over the years, and am very fussy, but the Monster Jamz Headphones have no right to sound as good as they do for the money that they cost. If you are looking for an inexpensive set of earbuds, that will blow away the ones that come with most portable audio players, then I would definitely give the Monster Jamz Headphones a try. Monster do go over the top with their hype on the box of these ear buds, as I am pretty confident they won’t actually change your life, but despite that, they have made a really nice sounding set of ear buds for a great price
