Alpine INA-W900

The Alpine INA-W900 Head Unit(HU), is more than just a car audio system. It brings together in one unit, Satellite Navigation, CD/DVD player, AM/FM radio, iPhone/usb player, Bluetooth hands free kit, and it does it better than any HU I have ever used before. I have had a few devices that are meant to be used with the iPhone but none that have worked as well as this HU.

I have run the iPhone connection cable into my centre console, so its really easy to get to when I am in and out of the car. The phone is also paired via bluetooth, so even if I haven’t connected the iPhone, and still have it in my pocket, I am still able to use the HU for calls.

1986 PORSCHE 944 TURBO

I have either done the best thing I have ever done, or the dumbest, and only time will tell.

Car pic

My pride and joy

I have purchased a new(old) Porsche. I had been planning to buy another type of vehicle for sometime, but one day some one parked a red 944 outside my house. I had always loved the look of these classic vehicles and decided to see what they were selling for these days. Well one thing led to another and I now own a very shiny red Porsche 944 turbo. Mine is an Australian delivered model, one of only 110 sold here over 2 years(we never got the 87 model). Mine was originally bought in 1987 and so although registered as an 87 it is an 86 spec car. The internal Porsche designation  for 944 turbo’s  is a 951 but right hand drive versions like mine, are actually a 952.

I have just added this app and so naturally I had to do a post from my iPhone. I am not that keen on typing a big post this way, as the iPhone just isn’t ideal for that. The app is free which is always a good thing and was very easy to set up and start blogging with.

I guess this is a test run so I will add to this once I have played around with it some more…ok, I am now back on my netbook but the first part was posted from my iPhone. The lack of a spell check is one feature that I missed straight away but that just means you will have to put up with some typo’s when I post from my iPhone until I can get on here via my PC and fix them…sorry in advance 🙂  Feels a little like I am gorilla blogging< note I just coined this term 🙂 (28 April 2010)

Creating a new post is very easy, as this post proves. The app saves post as an initial draft. I struggled a little to post at first but once I found that ticking published(in status option) by touching it, I had my first from my iPhone post. The app obviously isn’t as comprehensive as publishing from a PC, but looks like all you need to get job done. I will no doubt post then log in later to clean up anything I post this way, like I am now.

The app looks great as far as navigating a blog goes and the interface is clean and simple. I think it will prove very handy as I can take pics when I am out and about and add them with a post quite easily. I will hold off rating this app as I have had too little time to evaluate it yet, but so far, it’s all good

Alpine eX-10

I have just installed the Alpine eX-10 into my car. This unit was originally several hundred dollars but is now discontinued and can be found much cheaper. Amazon have it for $US44.95 Click here. I paid a little more as I saw it online cheap and didn’t do any research. At this price its an absolute bargain and there is nothing that comes close at the price or even at 4 times the price IMO. Display screen image

The Alpine eX-10 is a combination of devices. Its a Bluetooth handsfree kit for your mobile phone. Its an Ipod/Iphone interface for your stereo, and it is also a display for both, that can be mounted so you don’t have to take your eyes too far off the road to use it.

The Alpine eX-10 comes with a control box that can be mounted out of sight, a 2.4 inch display, that can be easily mounted to your dash. It also comes with a microphone for the hands free function, and a remote control, to drive it all. Some may wonder about using a remote control while driving, but as this remote allows you to feel your way around it with a series of bumps on the buttons, it is actually a lot safer than using the phone  or MP3 player whilst driving, as it doesn’t require you to look at the buttons. read full article here

I picked up a new Iphone about a week ago. My contract was up and so decided to get the Iphone. I resisted the Ipod when it came out and instead bought a Sony 20 GB  MP3 player. Later I realised that due to ipods popularity, it would have been a more flexible choice. My Sony is still doing a great job, so felt no need to ditch it favour of an Ipod but when it came to phones, I decided to go with the popular choice for several reasons, and I’m glad I did. read full article here
